Capital Gains Tax
The Income Tax Act's definition of assessable income is limited to gains or profits from business, employment, rentals and royalties, interest, fees and commissions, annuities, dividends, and a residual category of other gains or profits accrued to a person — it contains no provision bringing gains of a capital nature into charge. Individual capital gains, such as gains from selling shares, are accordingly not subject to income tax.
Crypto Tax
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines' Income Tax Act defines assessable income as gains or profits from business, employment, rentals and royalties, interest, premiums, commissions and fees, annuities, dividends, and a residual category of other gains or profits not otherwise listed — with no category for gains of a capital nature. Gains an individual makes from selling cryptocurrency held as an investment therefore fall outside the scope of assessable income.
