Trinidad and Tobago requires VAT registration once a person's commercial supplies exceed TTD 600,000 (approximately USD 89,600) in a 12-month period; VAT return periods are bimonthly, or another period as determined.

Trinidad and Tobago applies a 0% VAT rate to exported goods, medicines, and certain food items, while financial services, medical services, and residential property rentals are exempt from VAT.

Capital Gains Tax
Gains on the disposal of securities in Trinidad and Tobago are excluded from capital gains taxation entirely. More broadly, only gains on a chargeable asset disposed of within 12 months of its acquisition are taxable at all; anything held longer falls outside the scope of tax.
