Libyan and foreign nationals are only subject to personal income tax on income derived from employment in Libya. That salary income is taxed at 5% up to LYD 12,000 a year and a top rate of 10% above that, applied after deducting social insurance and social solidarity fund contributions.
VAT
No VAT or general sales tax is levied in Libya.
Capital Gains Tax
Libyan and foreign nationals are subject to tax only on income derived from employment in Libya. Capital gains on securities fall outside this scope and are not taxed for individuals.
