In practice
- Exemptions
Cabo Verde's VAT law distinguishes exempt transactions without credit — including hospital and medical care, physicians'/dentists'/nurses' services, education, banking/financial/insurance transactions, and welfare and social-security services — from exempt-with-credit (zero-rated) transactions, which cover essential goods such as meat, fish, and milk under the VAT Code's Annex I, plus fuelling and provisioning of sea-going vessels and aircraft.

Wealth Tax
No net wealth tax is levied in Cabo Verde. PWC's overview of individual 'Other taxes' covers social security contributions, VAT/special consumption tax, and property tax, with no wealth tax mentioned. EY's Worldwide Personal Tax and Immigration Guide, Cape Verde chapter, likewise enumerates inheritance/gift tax (eliminated 1999), a flat 0.1% property tax on rural/urban/mixed-use property (effective 1 January 2026), real estate transfer tax, and a touristic contribution — again with no wealth tax.
