Modeled on single-person thresholds; jointly assessed couples double the IMP 6,500 standard-rate threshold to IMP 13,000. Subject to an irrevocable election, a tax cap of IMP 220,000 (IMP 440,000 for a married couple) applies to total income tax liability for the five years from 6 April 2020.
The Isle of Man charges a standard rate of 10% on the first IMP 6,500 of a resident individual's taxable income (IMP 13,000 for jointly assessed couples), and a higher rate of 21% on the excess. Subject to an irrevocable election, a tax cap of IMP 220,000 (IMP 440,000 for a married couple) applies to an individual's total income tax liability for the five years commencing 6 April 2020.
VAT
For VAT purposes, the Isle of Man forms a single territory with the United Kingdom, and its VAT rules are broadly identical to the UK's.
In practice

Businesses must register for VAT once the value of taxable supplies over the preceding rolling 12 months exceeds GBP 90,000, or where turnover in the next 30 days alone is expected to exceed that figure. Registration below the threshold is also available voluntarily.

Some supplies are zero-rated, including food, books and publications, and public transport. Other supplies, including insurance and financial services, betting and gaming, education, and healthcare, are exempt from VAT.
