Cyprus requires VAT registration once turnover exceeds EUR 15,600 in the preceding 12 months, or is expected to exceed that amount within the next 30 days; VAT returns are filed quarterly, with payment due by the tenth day of the second month following the end of the VAT period.

Cyprus zero-rates exports and the supply, maintenance, and provisioning of qualifying aircraft and vessels, plus a list of basic goods such as bread, milk, eggs, and children's food; postal services, education, medical services, charities' supplies, residential leasing, and financial services are VAT-exempt.

Capital Gains Tax
Cyprus capital gains tax applies only to gains on Cyprus-situated immovable property; profits from the disposal of shares, bonds, and other corporate 'titles' are unconditionally exempt from personal income tax.

Profits from the disposal of corporate 'titles' are unconditionally exempt from personal income tax in Cyprus. 'Titles' covers shares, bonds, debentures, founders' shares, and options on these, and a Cyprus Tax Authority circular extends the term to futures/forwards, swaps, repos, depositary receipts, and units in collective investment schemes, UCITS, investment trusts, mutual funds, and REITs on titles.

Crypto Tax
Cyprus taxes individual gains from cryptocurrency transactions at a flat rate of 8%. This flat-rate mode does not apply to crypto assets acquired through mining.
